Something about the color codes in the database:
The color codes still are not translated, because there are so many different terms, and
especially the information until something like the 80´s of the last century are mostly not
up-to-date to the now current scientific knowledge.
In older American and Canadian lineages
we found, that SW mostly means a black dog with white markings (e. g.: Cayuga Icebreaker
of Topmast - there is a picture - he is mentioned as B/W).
Dogs which are mentioned as
WS (original W/B), we are not 100 percent sure in all cases, are "Landseers".
Abbreviations:
| S | black, no additional information about recessive genes |
| SW | mostly a black dog with white markings, but sometimes may be also "Landseer" |
| WS | probably white-black "Landseer" |
| B | brown |
| SrB | black, brown recessiv |
| SrSW | black, piebald recessiv |
| SrBrSW | black, brown recessiv braun, piebald recessiv |
| Grau | gray |
| SrGrau | black, dilution recessiv |
| SrTan | black, tan recessiv |
| black and tan | black and tan |
| SmSW | black with white and black brothers and/or sisters |
| SmB | black with brown brothers and/or sisters |
| SmGrau | black with gray brothers and/or sisters |
| SmSWmGrau | black with grey and white and black brothers and/or sisters |
... and so on...
Dogs with "m" (brothers and/or sisters with another color) are
coming from parents, which have not the color of the children, but surely are recessive as
one can see from the children. In this cases, it is not sure, if e. g. the black brothers
and/or sister would carry the recessive gene(s)...
